Damarys Campos earned her B.A. in Portuguese and English Studies from Centro Universitário da Grande Dourados, MS, Brazil. She holds a graduate certificate in Translation Studies and is associate member of the Brazilian Association of Translators.

 

She also attended some continuing education courses in Grammar for Text Editors and Proofreaders at Universidade do Livro da Fundação Editora da UNESP, and another course in Proofreading for Publishing Companies, led by Laura Folgueira. In addition to it, she attended continuing education study programmes for teachers at Zurich University of Teacher Education, Switzerland. Ms. Campos is currently a lato sensu graduate student in Educational Neuroscience, as a distance learner.

In 2002 she had the opportunity to study Business English (BEC) at Pacific Gateway International College, Vancouver, CA.

 

Since then, she has lived in Switzerland where she teaches Brazilian Portuguese in the Heritage Language and Culture course (HSK), organized by a private institution, in partnership with the Department of Education of the Canton of Zurich and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil. ​

In 2022, she started her career as a freelance translator, editor and proofreader in the realization of publishing projects, from initial concept to implementing corrections and final artwork, following briefs to produce design work for cover and page layouts of illustrated books and magazines. She is the editor of the Brazilian Portuguese first edition of Revista Digital da ABEC.

VOLUNTEERING

​

Pro bono translator of the World Health Organization (WHO) in partnership with the John Whitlam Translation Agency and the Brazilian Association of Translators. Based on the number of hours dedicated to translate the document into Brazilian Portuguese, the contribution to the WHO in 2023 was primarily as follow: Standard operating procedures for supply chain management of health products for neglected tropical diseases amenable to preventive chemotherapy (ISBN 9789240049581).

 

Voluntary translator of the Global Translator Community (GTC) of the Coursera platform, in the process of translating subtitles into Brazilian Portuguese, providing millions of Brazilians with access to the highest quality educational resources.
